Job Description
Located in the hub of downtown Washington DC, this modern European bistro is seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager to join their team! The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality, a strong background in restaurant management, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to our guests. This position will work closely with the General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the restaurant, maintain high standards of service, and ensure a memorable dining experience for our guests.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of the restaurant’s operations, including front-of-house, back-of-house, and administrative functions.
- Supervise and support the staff to ensure smooth service delivery, maintain a positive work environment, and uphold standards of excellence.
- Coordinate and schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage and efficient operations during service hours.
- Manage guest reservations, seating arrangements, and special requests to provide personalized and exceptional hospitality.
- Monitor and uphold adherence to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations to ensure a safe and clean environment for guests and staff.
- Assist in developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline operations and enhance guest experience.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to maintain menu consistency, quality control, and innovative culinary offerings.
- Handle guest feedback, resolve complaints or issues promptly, and ensure guest satisfaction with a focus on building long-term relationships.
- Conduct regular staff training sessions to enhance product knowledge, service standards, and teamwork within the restaurant.
- Assist in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, inventory control, and cost analysis to maximize profitability.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in restaurant management, with a focus on fine dining or upscale hospitality.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team of professionals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
- Proven track record in operational management, financial acumen, and problem-solving in a restaurant setting.
- Understanding of industry trends, market dynamics, and guest preferences in the fine dining segment.
- Proficiency in restaurant management software, POS systems, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
