Staff Accountant Payroll
Job Description
The Talent Shop is in search of an experienced, motivated, and organized Accountant and Payroll Administrator. This position is an integral part of the administrative and finance structure of the location. He/she must have experience handling multiple tasks within the accounting department and have a very high attention to detail. The individual should be dynamic and present a professional image and composure. The ideal candidate should have the ability to carry out direction with minimal supervision and possess effective organizational and time management skills. He/she must work well within a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations and journal entries as a part of the financial statement close process.
• Responsible for payroll processing and administration for all employees. Weekly and semi-monthly payrolls involved.
• Prepare payroll reports and enter payroll journal entries into accounting system.
• Oversee all sales tax reporting and related compliance.
• Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Maintain and organize all files, accounting binders, vendor files, journal entries, accounting supplies, etc. on an ongoing basis.
• Assist in developing and implementing new accounting procedures for the department.
• Perform ad hoc special projects for management, as required.
Qualifications:
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or in any other accounting related course of study.
• At least 1-2 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and knowledge of various accounting software and applications; including but not limited to: Great Plains Dynamics or similar general ledger packages. Able to quickly learn and adapt to new technology and POS systems.
• Familiarity and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Must be professional with an upbeat and energetic personality.
