Job Description

The Talent Shop is seeking a Kitchen Manager for a well-established, independent café and restaurant located in Dupont Circle. This iconic DC destination combines a lively, all-day café with full-service dining—serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, brunch, and late-night offerings in a bustling neighborhood setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support kitchen staff during all service periods to ensure smooth operations.
  • Expedite orders with attention to accuracy, quality, and presentation.
  • Mentor and coach team members while documenting performance when necessary.
  • Manage back-of-house scheduling to balance labor efficiency with service needs.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and ensure strict compliance with food safety standards.
  • Partner with management on daily operations, inventory control, and menu consistency.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of management experience in a full-service, high-volume kitchen.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate a team.
  • High energy, with the ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Proven ability to manage schedules, labor costs, and kitchen efficiency.
  • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
